Baptism
We rejoice with the family and wish to walk with them as they make the decision to baptize their child as a Catholic and begin life in the church community.
Infant Baptism (for children up to age 7) is celebrated the first three Sundays of each month at 1:30 pm. Four families may be scheduled at one time. Baptisms take place in church immediately following the 12:00 pm Mass.
For parents having their first child baptized at St. Francis, we will mail Baptismal preparation information in lieu of an in person meeting. We would also invite you to register at St. Francis if you have not already done so. Those living out of town would need to attend the Baptismal prep program provided by their parish.
Godparents should be baptized and confirmed practicing Catholics 16 years of age or older.
Family members or friends who are Catholic Priests or Deacons are welcome to celebrate Baptism. This arrangement must be set up with one of the St. Francis priests. A reminder that any priest/deacon not of the Archdiocese of Chicago, while welcome, must have a letter of suitability issued by his diocese and sent to Fr. Jerry Boland (312-534-8212).
Baptism for Adults (RCIA) is celebrated at the Easter Vigil (the evening before Easter Sunday). Preparation takes place through the RCIA process.

Our Mission ~ The St. Francis of Assisi community is a welcoming Christian family. We believe in Jesus Christ, and are guided by the Holy Spirit and the example of St. Francis. We gather to celebrate, to grow in the knowledge of our faith rooted in the Catholic tradition, and to recognize our responsibility to reach out to the world.
