Religious Education at St Francis of Assisi is a process in which children:
LEARN the stories, beliefs, traditions and prayers of the Catholic Community,
INTEGRATE experiences of life and faith traditions in order to develop meaningful Christian lives, and,
PARTICIPATE in worship... symbols of the Catholic faith as celebrated in Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
Religious Ed Monthly E-Newsletter
The Religious Ed E-Newsletters are sent out monthly from August to May. Information regarding grade level activities, parent meetings and sacramental events is included. This is our main form of parent communication throughout the year.
The MAY E-Newsletter has been sent . Registered families should check their inbox. If you have changed your email address, please contact the RE Office so we can update our list.
We are looking for Confirmed Adults who are interested in sharing their faith with the children of St Francis. Currently, we have 25 Religious Ed classes in Grades 1 through 8 that do not yet have a Catechist. Volunteers are needed to fill these spots before classes begin in September.
Our weekday classes are held 4:30-6:00pm on Tues, Wed or Thurs. Our Sat morning classes are 8:30-10am. Each class meets twice a month from Sept - May. Our Catechist Orientations begin the week of August 13
If you would like to volunteer, or have thought about it and have questions, please contact the Religious Ed Office at (708) 460-0155. Monday through Thursday.

New Family Registration
Registration for new Religious Education families began June 3 at the St Francis Center, up on the hill, and continues through the summer.
We serve children of registered parish families 1st Grade through 8th Grade. Sessions are held at the St Francis Center several weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings from Sept-May.
Stop by the RE Office Mon-Thur 9am-4pm to register. Call us at (708) 460-0155 with any questions.
High School Teen Volunteers
High School teens who are interested in helping during Religious Ed classes can contact the RE Office (708) 460-0155.
The teens that help out are invaluable as aides in the younger grades and as office help during our RE sessions. Their time spent volunteering also qualifies toward Service Hours required by many of the High Schools in the area.
Journey in Faith
Our faith journey begins at baptism. Parents are the first catechists for their children. In our religious education program we continue what began at Baptism and, along with our faith families, help our children build religious foundation that will continue throughout their lives. By working in small faith groups, our catechists and children build small faith communities together.
We connect those small faith communities with the larger faith community of the parish by celebrating Sunday Mass together and by attending our Grade Level Mass sessions. It is a family journey, a sharing of our faith and the rich traditions that have been celebrated by Catholics for over 2000 years.
Explore our website for information, and other helpful supplements to our regular RE sessions. There are a variety of site links available to develop and nurture your faith as a family or as a parishioner. Please visit our site often.
The Religious Education Office is located in the St Francis Center, up on the hill.

Our Mission ~ The St. Francis of Assisi community is a welcoming Christian family. We believe in Jesus Christ, and are guided by the Holy Spirit and the example of St. Francis. We gather to celebrate, to grow in the knowledge of our faith rooted in the Catholic tradition, and to recognize our responsibility to reach out to the world.
