St. Francis Religious Education

Religious Education at St Francis of Assisi is a process in which children:
LEARN the stories, beliefs, traditions and prayers of the Catholic Community,

INTEGRATE experiences of life and faith traditions in order to develop meaningful Christian lives, and,

PARTICIPATE in worship... symbols of the Catholic faith as celebrated in Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

 VOLUNTEERS!

Are you a Confirmed and practicing  Catholic, at least 18 years old, enjoy working with children and looking for a way  to share your faith ?

If you have roughly 3-4 hours a month to devote to our Religious Education Program, then we have a just the thing!

We supply all the materials and training. The Catechist manual is very detailed and easy to follow. The online portal has an extensive amount of media that our Catechists can use both for preparation and to share during class. Each session meets twice a month.

Consider volunteering for the 2025-26 year.

If you would like to be a sub for 2025-26, please contact the RE Office

We also have high school teens who volunteer during the RE Sessions.  This can count toward their high school's service hour requirements for graduation!

Contact the RE Office for more details! Classes meet twice a month for 1 1/2 hours. 708-460-0155

                                                     Journey in Faith

Our faith journey begins at baptism. Parents are the first catechists for their children. In our religious education program we continue what began at Baptism and, along with our faith families, help our children build religious foundation that will continue throughout their lives. By working in small faith groups, our catechists and children build small faith communities together.

We connect those small faith communities with the larger faith community of the parish by celebrating  Sunday Mass together and by attending our Grade Level Mass sessions. It is a family journey, a sharing of our faith and the rich traditions that have been celebrated by Catholics for over 2000 years.

Explore our website for information, and other helpful supplements to our regular RE sessions. There are a variety of site links available to develop and nurture your faith as a family or as a parishioner. Please visit our site ofte

Our Mission ~ The St. Francis of Assisi community is a welcoming Christian family.  We believe in Jesus Christ, and are guided by the Holy Spirit and the example of St. Francis.  We gather to celebrate, to grow in the knowledge of our faith rooted in the Catholic tradition, and to recognize our responsibility to reach out to the world.
